Responsibilities include accountability for the organization of the warehouse, from facilities layout through work flow optimization, inventory management and the leadership and direct supervision of the distribution center team. In addition to the efficient and safe physical layout of the distribution center and its equipment, this position will adopt and implement logistics technology and develop and maintain processes that ensure operational efficiency and provide superior internal and external customer service. Recruits, onboards, trains, develops and manages the performance of direct reports. Works in collaboration with management across all shifts at site location as well as across the organization to drive results for suppliers and internal and external customers.
Essential Job Functions:
Supervises a diverse team of distribution employees involved in various warehouse duties, including inventory, picking, packing, palletizing, fork lift driving, outbound shipping and other related duties.
Participates in hiring of employees, onboarding and training of all personnel.
Creates, communicates, implements and monitors key performance metrics for individual employees and for the team.
Promotes employee engagement, including employee recognition, team communications and employee development.
Plans and supervises warehouse activities and establishes priorities in keeping with safe, effective and efficient operations and cost factors, while ensuring inventory accuracy and timeliness.
Coordinates the activities of the warehouse in storing, pulling, picking, packing, staging, palletizing and shipping materials or products and other related duties.
Applies knowledge of methods, equipment, systems and capability of workers to ensure effective work flow and team performance.
Partners with other shifts to guarantee smooth shift hand-offs for optimum department performance.
Ensures materials are correctly identified, labeled, pulled, staged, shipped and transacted for proper tracking and location identification for systems and inventory control.
Works with management to establish productivity and quality standards.
Sets goals for employees and motivates warehouse personnel to achieve their goals.
Promotes safety. Ensures employees are aware of and adhere to safety rules and regulations. Works with the team to develop a safety culture with zero incidents /accidents.
Ensures that equipment is maintained and operated in a safe manner.
Promotes quality. Sets the quality direction to meet/exceed customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
Ensures individual employees know and understand customer and AMD quality requirements and standards, and how they personally impact quality.
Proactively addresses the performance management of direct reports including coaching and mentoring. Implements corrective actions in a timely manner when needed and monitors effectiveness.
Identifies, develops and implements process improvements in the Warehouse.
In partnership with inventory control personnel, conducts cycle counts and physical inventory activities, as required.
Evaluates the freight costs and the inventory costs associated with transit times to ensure that appropriate shipping methods are used.
Seeks feedback from internal and external customers to monitor the quality of service and condition of the items they are receiving. Expedites responses to customers.
Responsible for the minimization of loss associated with mis-location, expiration, obsolescence and shrinkage of inventory.
Additional responsibilities and tasks as defined by the Distribution Center Manager.
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 3-5 years of pharmaceutical and/or medical products distribution desired
Proven history of success in Warehouse, Distribution and Outbound Shipping
Experience with high volumes of item/model numbers and shipments
Must have a minimum of 5 - 7 years of supervisory experience
Direct supervision of warehouse teams
Ability to work Second shift schedule
Background that includes cross-functional work relationships with areas such as inside sales, accounting and purchasing and across shifts
Have a proven track record of quality and process improvements
Demonstrated project management and organization skills
Time management skills to effectively schedule and meet company demands
Ability to work and think independently within a team
Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance
Must be proficient in English, possessing strong written and oral communication skills
Knowledge of ERP systems a plus
Experience using Microsoft Office
Must have a valid driver's license
