This position is responsible for the overall supply chain strategy and function and distribution of materials. This is a results driven position requiring an expertise in distribution and logistics. Leads multiple, multi-shift, distribution centers with large complex healthcare customers and government/military organizations. The position requires a keen understanding of the customers’ needs and the Company’s capabilities and history as an industry leading innovator. Being both strategic and hands-on, responsibilities included the ability to multitask, delegate, follow up, prioritize and manage resources effectively. All aspects of facilities management fall under the direction of this position in order to optimize warehouse utilization, layout work flow and maintenance needs. Creates, implements, monitors and communicates the performance feedback of the Distribution Center’s Key Performance Indicators to support the success of AMD. The Director of Operations will recruit, train, develop and manage the performance and talent of diverse teams of Distribution Center supervisors, managers and specialists.
Essential Job Functions:
Leads the development of supply chain strategies and plans that lead to effective on-time delivery, outstanding supplier quality, and maximum inventory turns.
Directly manages the Distribution Center Teams.
Creates and meets expectations of Key Performance Indicators.
Sets priorities in keeping with safe, effective, efficient operations and cost factors, while ensuring inventory accuracy and timeliness.
Focuses on optimizing Company transportation infrastructure.
Coordinates and champions efforts across the enterprise to ensure effective handoffs so opportunities are being maximized.
Is an effective planner and communicates issues with AMD leadership which affect the Company and team.
Continuously analyzes data, trends, and looks for opportunities to enhance the customer experience, new customer acquisition and new product development.
Conducts in-depth analysis to better understand and react to complex problems concerning inventory dollars, stock out situations, and lead times.
Provides critical analysis and investigations as required by senior management and drafts reports as required in support of warehousing and distribution center related strategies.
Provides oversight, guidance, training, tools, methodologies and reporting across Company on warehouse and distribution center related activities.
Provides technical leadership to drive best practices in materials management.
Assists with sourcing process and provides input in supplier selection to ensure competitive pricing, high on-time delivery, proper quality, etc.
Establishes successful relationships with suppliers for programs that ensure the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at acceptable levels.
Works directly with other functions to drive the development and establishment of warehousing and inventory control standards, policies and practices.
Proactively maintains key performance metrics such as Cycle Count Accuracy and Adjustment Dollars to keep a pulse on all warehouse performance.
Understands and enforces Company Policy and Procedures
Understands the company operational procedures, and how they integrate with the day to day processes.
Creates a cohesive team by cross-training and having ready backups for each team position.
Continuously develops team and team morale by reducing turnover and making sound hiring decisions and seeking employee engagement and recognition opportunities.
Creates an environment that encourages continuous improvement.
Develops and improves the team’s skills and capabilities through direct involvement in effective hiring, training, performance evaluation, coaching and talent assessment and development.
Develops staff to expand capabilities to work independently and take on new responsibilities.

7 – 10 years of medical/healthcare supply chain experience required
10+ years proven background in the direct supervision of management and individual contributors
Track record of success with hands-on and strategic responsibilities for multi-site, multi-shift Distribution Centers
Experience working in healthcare supply chain required
Applied knowledge of the medical equipment and supplies evaluation, prioritization and procurement processes used in the marketplace
Hands-on experience with ERP systems
Lean six sigma certifications a plus
Demonstrated management, negotiation, analytical capabilities, program management skills and experience, communication skills and strong large and small group presentations
Extensive overnight travel at least 50%
