Summary of Position
As a Customer Relationship Specialist, serve as an important point of contact for expanding and managing NCA’s retail customer relationships by initiating outbound and handling inbound calls, emails and other inquiries to determine customer needs, resolve issues, and educate retailers about NCA services and programs. Support NCA’s signature events, Sweets & Snacks Expo and State of the Industry Conference, by helping to drive retail engagement and attendance. Assist the Director and Vice President of Industry Relations to accomplish department objectives, vision, strategy and financial metrics, including database pulls, list management and analysis.
Retail engagement (65%)
Engage with, and gain commitment from members of retailer, wholesaler, distributor community to drive attendance at NCA signature events.
Activate outreach and prospecting programs for NCA events and activities.
Respond to incoming requests regarding Sweets & Snacks Expo, as well as other Industry Affairs inquiries.
Assist with vetting attendee applications for Sweets & Snacks Expo and other events, and collaborate with third-party attendee acquisition partners to ensure seamless customer service.
Become an expert on the registration process, policies and procedures relative to the Sweets & Snacks Expo.
Maintain and continuously develop in-depth knowledge of the confectionery industry, the retail marketplace and industry stakeholders.
Work with internal team and third parties to effectively and accurately enter and manage customer data in NCA’s database.
Help coordinate Industry Affairs/customer communications throughout the year (letters, emails, etc.).
Aid the Director and Vice President in building meaningful relationships with specific groups of accounts (determined by size, trade channels, specialty, etc.).
Present a professional, confident and enthusiastic image to develop trusting relationships with all retail customers.
Marketing and administrative support (30%)
Work with marketing staff to understand list and data parameters supporting direct mail, email and other campaigns.
Research and stay current with other industry events relevant to and competitive with NCA offerings (e.g., Sweets & Snacks Expo).
Collaborate with Industry Affairs and Membership teams supporting key committee meetings and logistics.
Provide support to broader NCA team for key initiatives and signature events

Experience, Skills, and Education:
3-4 years of relevant work experience.
Proven experience in customer service and team orientation, such as customer or membership services
Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience is a plus.
Experience in working with databases and large datasets is a plus.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficient in creative problem solving with the ability to learn quickly in a challenging environment.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Excellent project management skills with attention to detail and time management.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks with attention to detail.
Experience with Decisionpoint, Citrix, Informz, Google analytics and iMIS is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree with course work in business administration, computer science or other relevant course work preferred.
Normal office environment requiring use of typical business equipment (e.g., computer, telephone, fax, copier, security system). Ability to travel to conventions and conferences.
