Faculty members are expected to provide leadership in developing, teaching, and maintaining curriculum in both the graduate and undergraduate programs, using both traditional face-to-face and distance delivery methods.
The successful candidate will have a research agenda or publications in any of the following: wholesale or industrial distribution, logistics, transportation, global supply chain operations, or IDIS-related technology applications. The successful candidate is also expected to pursue externally funded research projects and to publish his/her research in peer reviewed publications.
The ideal candidate will have a teaching interest in warehousing, inventory management, warehouse management systems (WMS and information technology), automatic identification and data capture (AIDC), material handling equipment and application, or information technology such as ERP systems. Courses taught will need to include current technology applications and future supply chain technology/innovations.
Faculty members are expected to provide service to the program, department, university, community, the profession, and be actively involved with outreach to industry. The successful candidate will also be committed to networking with regional employers to promote student success in academics and job placement.
They should also have strong commitment and participation in professional activities that promote and enhance the reputation of East Carolina University and the College of Engineering and Technology.

A terminal degree in Industrial Technology or a closely related field, such as Technology Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Industrial/Engineering Management, augmented with relevant IDIS experience is required. ABD with significant qualifications may be considered for initial employment and will be initially appointed at the probationary rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to his/her first reappointment. The Department of Technology Systems (TSYS) at East Carolina University is seeking qualified applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of assistant or associate professor in our ATMAE Accredited program in Industrial Distribution and Logistics (IDIS). IDIS provides a unique combination of coursework, technology, and hands-on learning to prepare students for successful careers. Teaching and research are targeted toward business-to-business processes and technologies in wholesale distribution, logistics and transportation, manufacturing, and supply chain operations supporting various industries.
Housed within the College of Engineering and Technology, TSYS offers five undergraduate degrees, three masters' degrees, four graduate professional certificates, and participates in a consortium-based PhD program. The department has 30 full-time faculty members and employs an average of 15 part time instructors each semester to serve approximately 1,400 students.
